Ebury
Street, Belgravia runs from Grosvenor Gardens to Pimlico
Road. It was built mostly in the period 1815 to 1860
and is home to "La Poule au Pot" an award
winning restaurant. Where Ebury Street meets Pimlico
Road is a triangular area with seating and a bronze
statue of Mozart by Philip Jackson. The area is unofficially
called "Mozart Square" and Mozart wrote his
first symphony in 1764 at the age of 8 while staying
at No 180. Ebury Street has been home to many other
celebraties including Alfred Lord Tennyson (who lived
at No 42), Ian Fleming (No 22), Dame Edith Evans (No
109), George Moore (No 121 where WB Yeats & GB Shaw
visited him). |
